This will include: two guest speakers, a career fair, and several industry nights. I hope to see many of you out at the events.

2nd Annual Carleton ASHRAE Career Fair

Hi Everyone,

The 2016 Carleton ASHRAE Career Fair was a great success! Over a dozen employers were present, and over 200 students attended from Carleton University, Ottawa University, and Algonquin College. The feedback from employers was very positive, and the quality of many applicants was highlighted.

I would like to thank the Ottawa Valley Chapter of ASHRAE for collaborating on organizing this event. We hope to continue holding successful career fairs here for many years to come.

Thanks,
Jayson

Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank Adrianne Mitani on behalf of the Carleton chapter for her informative presentation on mechanical consulting in the building services industry. We hope to have her back soon to share more of her industry experiences and design innovations being used in the mechanical consulting business.

In other news, there will be a career panel at the end of this month on the 27th hosted by Carleton University. An email will be sent out shortly with more details.

For those of you who attended the student branch meeting I hope you enjoyed it, and your support is appreciated. I look forward to seeing more of our chapter at the November career panel, as it will be very beneficial for those who attend.

March OVC Career Fair

Hi Everyone,

The 2014 Ottawa Valley Chapter (OVC) Career Fair at Algonquin College was a great success. The opportunity to introduce Carleton students to prospective employers proved to be a valuable experience for all. I would like to thank Adrianne Mitani and Richard Cameron for organizing this event.

With regard to Carleton ASHRAE activities as we near the end of the winter term, we still hope to arrange a tour either within the next few weeks or toward the beginning of the upcoming fall term. We are currently targeting either the steam plant or the Canal building depending on interest and availability.

I would also like to wish you the best as the term nears the exam period, and good luck with exams!

Cheers,
Jayson

February Student Branch Meeting

Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank Bill Wong for his informative and engaging presentation on the Drake's Landing Solar Community in Alberta. We hope to have him back in the future to share his experiences with other groundbreaking residential solar projects.

In other news, there will be a career fair next month at Algonquin College just before the Ottawa Valley Chapter ASHRAE meeting. Details will follow as I receive them.

We also plan to setup a tour of either a campus building or a prominent building downtown before the end of the term. Details will also follow as I receive them.

I hope everyone that attended the student branch meeting enjoyed it, and I hope to see you all again at the next Carleton ASHRAE event.

Cheers,
Jayson
